THE MINISTRIES AND COMMISSIONS

 

The work of Beulah Baptist Church is organized and carried out through Ministries and Commissions. These Ministries provide an opportunity for the Saints of the Beulah Family to minister to each other and to persons beyond the church. To assist you with selecting a ministry and committing your personal gifts to service, a statement about each ministry and program is presented. – Each member is encouraged to take the class on Spiritual Gifts offered in our Christian Education Department.

 

 

THE CHURCH COUNCIL

The Church Council is composed of  all group and standing committee leaders. The Council meets with the Pastor four (4) times during the year to coordinate activities,  for programmatic planning and for reviewing and discussing church policies and procedures. Attendance by the leader or the leader’s designee is required.

 

 

THE MUSIC MINISTRY

The Music Ministry provides music for worship services, and special programs; gives voice instruction; renders concerts and provide music education. The Music Ministry has the responsibility to enhance the worship and praise of the church. The Mass Choir is the Church Choir. Other opportunities for participation in singing groups are through The T.L. Graham Gospel Choir, The Youth Mass Choir and The Men’s Chorus.

 

 

THE SUNDAY CHURCH SCHOOL

The Sunday School is the primary teaching arm of the church and meets each Lord’s Day morning at 9:45 A.M.  All members are urged to attend Sunday School. Attendance is required for all Church and Auxiliary Officers.

 

 

 

THE CHRISTIAN TRAINING CENTER (CTC)

Continuous and expanded training for the growing Beulite is offered through CTC. The schedule of classes, seminars and workshops are held as announced.

 

 

THE TAPE MINISTRY

This Ministry is designed to record worship services, concerts, revivals and other selected events. These recordings are available to persons for future use; to persons who may not be able to attend services, and to our sick and/or shut-in saints.

 

 

THE MEDIA MINISTRY

The visual recording of worship services and other events provide an opportunity to these persons who cannot attend or want to hear the sermon again. Also the recording and taping provides a historical record of our worship and praise.

 

 

 

THE WORSHIP AND PRAISE TEAM

These Ministry persons are trained in leading the congregation in lively, spirited and uplifting Praise singing. The congregation learns the songs from the Praise Team and catches their spirit in worship.

 

 

 

THE PRAYER WATCH MINISTRY

This Prayer Ministry covers the Pastor and Church continuously. In each of the 168 hours of the week, a Beulite is assigned to pray for the Church and Pastor at some time during that hour. Prayer volunteers are always needed; call the church office.

 

 

THE SOUP KITCHEN

This Ministry feeds hundreds of community people each Saturday from 11:00 A.M. till 1:00 P.M. Volunteer groups and individuals are welcome and sought to participate.

 

 

 

OPERATION ANDREW

Each member of Beulah Baptist Church is expected to be a member of Operation Andrew. Anyone who has led someone to Christ is a member of Operation Andrew. John 1:40-41, “One of the two which heard John speak, and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messiah, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.” It is your job to lead one person to Christ.

 

 

 

THE SCHOLARSHIP COMMISSION

This Ministry encourages and assists our Young People in Scholastic achievement through workshops, counseling, annual tour of Black Colleges and financial aid. Participation and donations are welcomed.

 

 

 

REV’S READERS PROGRAM

This Program is designed to promote reading for our children through age (15) fifteen. The parent or designated adult signs a contract with Pastor “B” that they will spend 15 minutes reading with the child each day. The child will read to the adult and if the child is too young to read, the adult will read to the child.

 

 

THE TUTORIAL MINISTRY

This Ministry meets the individual needs of students whether remedial, instruction, study habits and follow through. If you  desire assistance or if you would like to work as a Tutor, please see the Scholarship Commission.

 

 

 

PASTOR’S REPORT CARD PROGRAM

Each Beulah child is to give Pastor Bottoms a copy of  his/her Report Card for each grading period of the School year. The Pastor keeps them on file and personally reviews the card with the student and monitors  his/her  progress and behavior.

 

 

 

THE TRANSPORTATION MINISTRY

This Ministry operates and cares for our vehicles and provides  transportation to and from the church services and programs. Our coach Tour Bus carries us and is available to transport others throughout the continental United States.

 

 

THE NURSES MINISTRY

The Nurses Ministry seeks to advise and assist Beulites in better health through seminars, workshops and information. They do Blood Pressure screening and are on duty at all worship services. All diabetics or persons with special health needs should advise the Nurses Ministry.

 

 

PRAYER PARTNERS

The selection of Prayer Partners is designed to build up one another is the faith and be a source of courage and strength for each other.

 

 

THE SOCIAL ACTION MINISTRY

This Ministry seeks to lead us in meeting the civic, political and social needs of  Beulites and the Community. In addition to sponsoring the Annual Black Achievers’ Awards Program on the 4th Sunday in February and compiling and updating  the Minority Business Directory, the ministry promotes Voter registration and education and seeks to have all Beulites as active members of the N.A.A.C.P. in the area where they live.

 

 

 

THE CULINARY MINISTRY

This Ministry has the oversight of all purchasing, preparation and serving of foods at Beulah Baptist Church. The ministry must be contacted to arrange and schedule  any function involving food. The Ministry also includes the Joe Johnson School of Culinary Arts. To enroll, contact the ministry.

 

 

 

THE CHRISTIAN EDUCATION MINISTRY

It is the goal of this Ministry to assist and lead all Beulites to grow in the knowledge of the Word Of God. This is done through the Sunday Church School, The Christian Training Center, Vacation Bible School, New Members Orientation, Discipleship Training, Institutes, Seminars and Workshops. Each member is expected to be involved in Christian Education.

 

 

 

 

 

This Ministry formally takes the Word and Witness to the streets of the City. Each Saturday during July through September our Associate Ministers preach on the Streets and the Ministry Team witnesses and evangelizes. This ministry is not for the “faint of heart.”

 

 

 

THE PRISON MINISTRY

This Ministry takes the Word and Witness in Preaching and in Song  into the places of incarceration. There is also the Prison Pen Pal Program, where your are assigned an inmate with which to correspond through writing.

 

 

THE LORD’S SUPPER

The Lord’s Supper (Communion) is served each 1st Sunday as a part of the worship services. Anyone who is not able to attend on the 1st Sunday, may by advising the Deacons, have it served at the Prayer Meeting on the Tuesday after the 1st Sunday. Persons who are confined to the home or hospital may request the Deacons to bring the Lord’s Supper to them.

 

 

THE USHERS MINISTRY

This Ministry is designed and dedicated to “order” in the House of the Lord and is responsible for assisting,  receiving and situating the members and visitors for the worship services and other programs of the church. Ushers are on duty whenever there is a function in the sanctuary. The Ministry has three designations, The Senior Ushers, The Male Ushers and The Junior Ushers.

 

 

THE YOUTH COMMISSION

The Ministry provides for a program for the holistic development of our youth. The Ministry focus is for the “Balanced Life” of Luke 2:52 “And Jesus increased in wisdom (mental) and stature (Physical) and favor with God (Spiritual) and Man (Social). Workers and Volunteers are always needed.

 

 

C.A.R.E. MINISTRY

Contact And Relate to Everyone is the Ministry designed to care for and keep the members that God has given us. The Deacons are assigned groups of members called “families”. They are to know, recognize, contact and keep up with these members. Persons assisting the Deacons in caring for their members are called “Shepherds”. You should know your deacon.

 

 

THE CLOTHING MINISTRY

Free clothing is provided each Saturday during the time of the Soup Kitchen Ministry. Hundreds of children and families are blessed by this Ministry. Volunteers and donations are always needed.

Each member of Beulah Baptist Church is expected to memorize and know Romans Road,- The simple Plan Of Salvation- Write the Romans Road on the first white page in your Bible.

COMMISSION ON MISSIONS

This Ministry, administered by the Deacons, is ever on the look-out for human needs, both Foreign and Home, and leads us in meeting those needs. All requests are thoroughly investigated before anything is given.

 

 

THE HELPING HAND MINISTRY

This Ministry exists  to assist Beulites who for one reason or another find themselves distressed. A Beulite who has demonstrated consistent church participant and support may seek assistance. All requests are thoroughly investigated by the Deacons before anything is granted.

 

 

THE NECROLOGY MINISTRY

This Ministry will minister to members who have experienced death in their family. The ministry will provide a person to assist with Funeral program preparation, the writing of the obituary and provide service that will assist the family through a time of sadness. The ministry also provides  ongoing bereavement support groups that assist members in working through the stages of grief. – The Ministry will make available to families, the booklet written by our Pastor entitled “the Exit Interview.” It is designed to aid you in planning your own funeral and has been extremely valuable in helping families through tough times of loss of a loved one.

 

 

THE DRAMA GUILD MINISTRY

This Ministry offers the opportunity for creative and expressive Beulites to utilize and develop their talents in all aspects of Drama productions such as  acting, writing, directing and the supporting functions.

 

 

THE DANCE MINISTRY

The artistic expression of faith and the majesty of God have been demonstrated by those who have “danced unto Him.” This Ministry provides for choreographed routines that have God as the object of our physical expressions of worship. Join the Dance Team.

 

 

 

THE PEARLS OF WISDOM MINISTRY

The Seasoned Saints are important at Beulah. This Ministry seeks to provide a holistic range of programs, activities, outings  and services to our Senior Citizens. This ministry keeps the Seniors Citizens “main streamed” at Beulah.

 

 

THE AIDS/HIV MINISTRY

This Ministry seeks to assist those who are infected and/or affected by the virus through visitation, prayer, food preparation, baby sitting and meeting personal needs.

 

 

THE PASTORAL ASSISTANCE MINISTRY (PAM)

This Ministry seeks to help meet the many needs of  the Man of God as he Ministers and serves. The desire is to be a source of  strength and encouragement by relieving some of the burdens that confront the Pastor and his family.

 

 

MINISTER MACHINE

Minister Machine helps the Pastor stay in touch with all the families of the church. From time to time the Machine will call your house. It’s the Pastor’s voice, but Minister Machine is calling. Please don’t hang up on Minister Machine and hurt his feelings.

 

 

THE MOTHERS’ BOARD MINISTRY

This Ministry consists of women at least 80 years of age who are willing to commit themselves to diligent and vigilant intercessory prayer for the Pastor and the Church. These women have served across the years and because they are respected and have Christian influence, they are examples to the entire church.

 

 

SOUL WINNING ACTION TEAM    S.W.A.T. Ministry

The Soul Winning Action Team is equipped to counsel persons in the Plan of Salvation and lead them to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. The training is offered twice each year and all members are requested to take it. The training is required for all church officers.

 

 

THE NEW MEMBERS ORIENTATION MINISTRY

All new members are required to attend  orientation classes before membership in the church can be attained. The classes meet on Sunday mornings at 9:45 A.M., during the Sunday Church School period.
